  • At Work: Aww we had a gathering today, to say farewell to the oldest member of our department as she retires and sets off for pastures new. She was presented with gifts, a cake and cards from the department. #Sad

I wish her all the very best in her retirement.

Bye-bye Jan from all of the ladies and gent in attendance today. . 👌

    Sending virtual flowers 💐

  • A stew is a dish typically made by slow-cooking ingredients in a liquid. It usually includes a variety of vegetables (such as potatoes, carrots, and onions) and one or more types of meat (like beef, chicken, or lamb), though vegetarian versions also exist. The ingredients are simmered together in a broth or stock, often seasoned with herbs and spices, allowing the flavours to meld over time. The resulting dish is hearty, thick, and comforting, with tender pieces of meat and well-cooked vegetables. Stews are commonly enjoyed during colder months due to their warmth and richness.

  • I enjoyed a lovely day at The Newark Air Museum, with a friend today. It stayed lovely and sunny for much of the day, however, I did feel a little windswept. The Museum is located on the former RAF Winthorpe airfield in Newark, Nottinghamshire, and is one of the largest volunteer-managed aviation museums in the UK. It houses an impressive collection of over 90 aircraft and cockpit sections, including significant and noteworthy models listed on the National Aviation Heritage Register. The museum spans 16 acres and includes two large display hangars that protect many exhibits from the weather, making it a suitable visit year-round.

Key highlights of the museum include a variety of aircraft ranging from military jets to helicopters and civilian planes, as well as an extensive collection of aviation artefacts and more than thirty aero engines. Some notable aircraft on display include the English Electric Canberra, Gloster Meteor, and Hawker Hunter.

The museum is also known for hosting special events such as Cockpit-Fest, where aviation enthusiasts can explore numerous aircraft cockpits brought in from across the UK and Europe. Additionally, it organizes Aerojumble sales and other themed events throughout the year.

You can enjoy the museum’s café and a well-stocked shop, often praised as one of the best specialist aviation outlets in the Midlands. The museum also supports educational visits, offering programs focused on World War II history and the principles of flight, catering to a wide range of audiences from school groups to aviation enthusiasts.
