Excitement! It is Grand National Day today. I shall be watching later. I can remember my Mother winning the Grand National when ‘Red Rum’ was a winner for two consecutive years.

For those of you who do not know what the Grand National is, the Grand National is a famous horse race held annually at Aintree Racecourse near Liverpool, England. It’s known for its challenging course featuring 30 fences over a distance of about 4 miles and 2ยฝ furlongs, making it one of the toughest steeplechases in the world. It’s watched by millions worldwide and has a rich history dating back to 1839.

I am wondering who to bet on today. Hmmmm *thinking

Excitement! I have chosen 3 x horses. I am hoping one of them will be a winner! ๐Ÿ˜„

Bring it on! I have arrived home .. ready to watch the #GrandNational2024  Saying a little prayer for the lovely horses today. Stay safe. #Amen

The winner was “I Am Maximus” and my 2nd horse “Kitty’s Light” came in 6th. I chose this horse because my daughter’s nickname is Kitty. My 3rd hose fell fairly early in the race.

What a great race. The weather stayed fine too. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  • RAF Duxford is a historic airfield located in Cambridgeshire, England. It played a significant role during World War II, serving as a base for RAF fighter squadrons defending Britain against German air raids. Today, it’s home to the Imperial War Museum Duxford, one of the largest aviation museums in Europe, showcasing a vast collection of historic aircraft and military vehicles.

  • The National Space Centre in Leicester is an impressive facility dedicated to space exploration and science education. It features interactive exhibits, immersive simulations, and a planetarium. It’s a hub for learning about space, astronomy, and the history of space exploration.

I can remember the day I drove to the National Space Centre. It was not that long ago. It was during the petrol strike. The week before going to visit the centre, I filled my tank to the top. I remember seeing all of these abandoned vehicles at the side of the road.

    I had a great time.

  • When arriving at the Yaxley shopping centre this evening, I found it engulfed in darkness due to a power cut. The usual hustle and bustle was replaced by an eerie silence. A man was sitting in his car opposite me in the car park. He slowly wound down the car window, to inform me that there had been a power cut, causing all of the shops to close early today. I thanked him for letting me know, however, I was curious to see if there was any sign of life anywhere.

As I stepped into the ghostly arcade, the air grew chilly, and the sounds of fading laughter echoed through the dimly lit space. I walked cautiously, feeling as if unseen eyes were watching my every move. Each step reverberates, sending shivers down my spine, as I explore the haunted remnants of what is usually a vibrant centre.

Searching for another fish and chip shop can be quite an adventure! I was looking to discover a hidden gem that sold delicious fish and chips. It’s like embarking on a tasty treasure hunt! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Going to eat at a friend’s place is like stepping into a cosy haven of warmth and familiarity. The anticipation of good food and great company adds an extra layer of excitement to the experience.

As we both enjoyed our fish and chips, there was yet another power cut, which lasted for a few minutes. The feeling of darkness can be unsettling, like being enveloped in a heavy, suffocating cloak where uncertainty and fear seem to linger. I didn’t like that feeling at all, therefore I was thankful when the lights came back on. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh well, yet another exciting day for my SmilyRose diary.
