  • Am I am O Rose? I identify as a British, Irish, Scots, and English individual with a diverse background that includes both (Indian) Orange and White British heritage. I was born in India, and my father has a mixed Indian and white background. Over the past century, there have been a few European marriages in my family, including one of French descent. Additionally, there was a historical presence of Europeans residing in India.

Both of my parents were Christians, and I spent the first five months of my life in British India. As British subjects, which is a historical term for British citizens, my parents were able to pass down their British citizenship to me despite my birth occurring outside of the country. Both of my parents were English speakers, and while I do have some Indian heritage, I am only fluent in English. Somewhere in my history, there was a French marriage, and there was a bit of a French Connection on my mother’s side of the family. She has a very small trace of French in her blood.

My background is rooted in the historical context of the British Empire during the Victorian Era.

My profile photo on Facebook, is of me!

During the time of my parents’ births, there was a significant population of white British and European individuals residing in British India.

I am curious as to why some individuals in Britain refer to me as Indian, despite my White British background and having been raised solely in England. My parents communicated exclusively in English and did not speak an Indian language.

I do not have an Indian, Scots, or Irish accent, just an English accent from growing up in England from the 1960’s.

I have a background that includes a similarity, Sir Cliff Richard and Joanna Lumley.

“India” seems to denote a specific context that I would appreciate further clarification on. Historically, India in the 1960s experienced significant changes following the departure of British officials to countries like the UK, Australia, Canada, and America. While there remain some British citizens living in India today, their numbers are much reduced compared to the past when British India was under British rule.

The Indian culture is rich and inviting, and its people are exceptionally gracious. I hope to have the opportunity to visit one day. The individuals I have encountered display a calm demeanor that is quite welcoming. They tend to be reserved and are dedicated to nurturing bright and well-rounded children. I strongly believe that education plays a crucial role in personal and societal development.

Some people doubt that i have an Indian background due to my English accent,

India does not issue dual passports. My  parents were in possession of British Subject passports.  I come from an Anglo-Indian background, which historically refers to individuals of British descent who lived in India over a century ago.  Ireland was part of Great Britain in those days.

  • Now, this takes me back to about 20 years ago when I used this photograph of myself as my profile photograph.

  • Today was the final day of my annual leave. I popped out to Bella Italia for some food. The staff working in there were all very nice.

I ate lasagne this evening. It was very nice.
  • She felt a sense of isolation and sadness. It seemed that there was no one available to support her at that moment. As she wiped her tears and glanced away from her coffee cup, she noticed a kind gentleman looking down at her. “Excuse me, is this seat taken?” he inquired. “Not at all,” she replied, feeling a bit surprised.

He was quite handsome, and she felt a glimmer of hope. They engaged in conversation for a couple of hours, and just as he checked his watch, he realized he needed to leave urgently. Before departing, he turned back and asked, “Could I take your phone number? I wouldn’t have another way to contact you.” He appeared slightly flustered from nerves. She smiled and wrote down her mobile telephone number on a piece of scrap paper.

Meeting new people for the first time can sometimes lead to the most wonderful experiences. Was this her knight in shining armour, finally coming to save her? Was this the start of a beautiful relationship, she wondered. Did i secretely wish this man into my life. 🙂

She awoke to the realization that it had all been a dream. It was disheartening for her to confront reality once more, leaving her with a sense of confusion.

She was missing her partner. 😩

  • This evening, I had the pleasure of dining at the George Hotel, where I captured some vibrant photographs. The staff ware exceptionally welcoming, and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I have visited The George Hotel on numerous occasions, including a memorable celebration for a family member’s 90th birthday, which feels like a lifetime ago.

I arrived at the George Hotel fairly early. Therefore, there were not many people dining at that time. It started to get busy as I was leaving. I didn’t mind as I did not really want to stare at all of those “lovey dovey” couples. Lol, it is not my thing. 🙂  The meal was very nice though. 🙂

Ps Thank you for my lovely Pink Rose on this Valentine Day. It was very thoughtful.
