I’ve never actually met Tom Cruise in my life. Is Facebook safe? Can it break up relationships?

What measures are in place to prevent someone from obtaining one of my photographs and using it to imply that I was on vacation with them, by showcasing the locations I have captured and visited over the past few years?

To be transparent, I have not gone on a holiday with another man since my divorce. My most recent vacation with a man was with my former husband 20 years ago!

Facebook contains a vast collection of personal photographs, raising concerns about privacy and relationships. For instance, consider the photo below, which features me several years ago during a holiday in Dublin with my daughter.

Some months later, Tom Cruise visited the Gravity Bar in Dublin, and the way the images are presented could misleadingly suggest that we were on vacation together. If I were to remove all pictures of my daughter and instead curate my photos to create the illusion of a holiday with Tom Cruise, it would be an inaccurate representation. This scenario highlights the importance of authenticity in our online representations.

Is the Internet safe?

Additionally, what measures are in place to prevent someone from using one of your profile photographs to create a fraudulent Facebook account and then  impersonate you?
