  • Coronation Street

    Jun 6th, 2024

Aww, I have just heard that Helen Worth who plays Gail in Coronation Street is leaving Coronation Street.  I remember her in the Soap when I was a young girl. Lol I can vaguely remember Ena Sharples too. 😂

This song is a favourite, by Michell McManus. She first performed the song on TV’s Pop Idol and Simon Cowell was one of the judges. I loved the song so much.

  • Captain Tom Moore – Such A Marvellous Gentleman

    Jun 5th, 2024

I can remember going for a lovely long walk, with a friend, when I saw this painting. It is Captain Tom Moore.

    Captain Tom Moore

In April 2020, at the age of 99, he began a fundraising campaign for the NHS Charities Together, aiming to walk 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday. His initial goal was to raise £1,000, but his efforts captured the public’s imagination, leading to a total of over £32 million in donations. Moore’s fundraising efforts and positive spirit during a challenging time garnered widespread admiration.

He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in July 2020 in recognition of his contributions. Captain Tom Moore passed away on February 2, 2021, but remains a symbol of resilience and community spirit.

  • Reversed Psychology Does It Work?😃

    Jun 4th, 2024

    Q. SmileyRose have you ever tried reverse psychology? What is it? Does it work?

    A. 😀 Reverse psychology refers to getting another person to do or say something by telling them the opposite of what is desired. It’s a common tactic commonly found in advertising and even parenting and can be a great skill.

Yes, I have used it. It can work when skilfully used. 😀

An example of reverse Psychology: You can tell your child “Not to tidy their room,” in the hope they may tidy it. 🙂

Reverse psychology can backfire though, so be very careful if you start to play silly games with people’s lives. Reverse psychology is a persuasion tactic that can often leave people feeling manipulated. If a person feels like you are always using this technique to get them to do what “you” want, they may reach a point where they feel that they cannot trust you anymore.

  • Beatrix Potter

    Jun 3rd, 2024

I visited Hill Top, Beatrix Potter’s House in Ambleside, with my children, several years ago. It was such a lovely day. My daughters loved it and they very soon became fans of anything to do with Beatrix Potter. They loved the stories.

Their Grandmother who was very good at knitting, knitted the entire Beatrix Potter characters. They looked fabulous.

I loved the film Miss Potter which starred Renee Zellweger. 🙂

  • Wimpole Hall and Farm

    Jun 3rd, 2024
    Me

My daughter Catherine and I enjoyed a very lovely day at Wimpole Hall and Farm. It was not our first visit. In fact, on the day Princess Diana died, my family and I had enjoyed a lovely day here, only to return home to watch the news. It was very sad.

Wimpole Hall is a large country house located in Cambridgeshire, England. Built in the 17th century, it showcases impressive architecture with elements of Baroque and later Palladian styles. The estate has been associated with several notable families and underwent various modifications over the centuries.

    Wimpole Hall

    Wimpole Hall:

    1. Architecture and Interiors: The hall features grand state rooms, opulent decor, and exquisite furniture. Noteworthy is the library, designed by James Gibbs, and the Yellow Drawing Room, adorned with Rococo plasterwork.
    2. Gardens and Parkland: The surrounding grounds were landscaped by famous designers, including Capability Brown and Humphry Repton. They encompass formal gardens, a walled garden, and a scenic parkland with lakes, woodland, and follies.
    3. Ownership and History: The estate has passed through many hands, including Sir Thomas Chicheley, the Earls of Hardwicke, and the Bambridge family. It is now managed by the National Trust.

    Wimpole Home Farm:

    1. Historic Working Farm: The farm operates as a traditional, working farm, preserving historical farming methods and rare breeds of livestock. Visitors can see sheep, pigs, cattle, and horses, among other animals.
    2. Educational Opportunities: The farm offers insights into agricultural practices, sustainable farming, and rural life. Activities and demonstrations are often held for visitors, particularly children.
    3. Facilities and Attractions: There is a range of facilities, including a café, shop, and play areas. Visitors can also enjoy tractor rides and seasonal events.

Together, Wimpole Hall and its farm offer a rich combination of historical, architectural, and agricultural experiences.

  • One Love

    Jun 2nd, 2024

Sometimes I like to match my nails with my outfit. This was last year’s effort, all in Blue. 🙂

I am one of those women who only believes in having just “One Love” at any one time. I am not one of those women who likes to sleep around with a multitude of men at the same time. I definitely do not entertain a different man for every day of the week. Just “One Love” will do. I’m fussy!

I have been single for several years. I have dated on numerous occasions, however I like to keep that part of my life private. I have not met a man who I would like to settle down with yet, that does not mean that I am gay, it just means that I am selective.
