SmileyRose Ramblings by Frances Rose Agnes Napper (She/Her)

  • Stamford & Rutland

    Apr 7th, 2024

This photograph is probably one of my favourite photographs, in my gallery.

Walking around Rutland Water offers a picturesque experience with its beautiful scenery and peaceful surroundings. The tranquil views of the water, observe the local wildlife, and there are various walking trails for you to enjoy.

Take your camera to capture the stunning landscapes along the way!

Empingham Church, also known as St. Peter’s Church, is a historic church located in the village of Empingham,  near Rutland Water in Rutland, England. The church dates back to the 13th century and is known for its beautiful architecture, including its distinctive tower and stained glass windows. Visitors to Empingham Church can explore its interior, admire its medieval features, and learn about its rich history. It’s a wonderful place to visit for those interested in architecture, history, or simply seeking a moment of peace and reflection.

I can remember living about 1 mile away from the Empingham church at Rutland. I watched them build the reservoir as a child. We resided at RAF North Luffenham at the time, before we moved to Stamford.

I particularly love this photograph. It was taken from a friend’s place, on the Stamford St Mary’s Bridge. Stamford is the town I mainly grew up in.

The Rutland Museum is a cultural institution located in Oakham, Rutland, UK. It showcases the history, heritage, and art of the local area, including exhibits on archaeology, natural history, and local industries. The museum often hosts events, workshops, and educational programs for visitors of all ages.

  • Who Am I? I Am Rose!

    Apr 7th, 2024

I am not ANYONE who has the same colour hair as mine because I can be a brunette, a blonde or a redhead. I like rose-like people, they are my favourites. 🙂

Roses have different hair colours. They come in all different shapes and sizes, they don’t have to be beautiful in looks or they can be beautiful looking, they can be black, brown or white, a rose can be young or old, however, every rose has a unique way about themselves They have a quality that shines brightly.

They do not need to be anyone else, because they can make a good job of being themselves, all on their own.

A Rose By Any Other Name Would Smell As Sweet.

I am anyone who is as innocent as a Rose.

A rose does not need to look like me, although it would be nice if a rose had a little resemblance to me occasionally.

A rose would need to respect me and respect my ways.

There are a few people who would hurt a Rose unnecessarily. I don’t know the reason why they would do such a thing.

    Much love

  • Love Is Not Limited

    Apr 7th, 2024

Love is not limited by biological relationships. Many people develop deep love and care for family members, and children in various capacities, such as being a teacher, mentor, caregiver, or even simply as a friend.

  • Sombre Mood

    Apr 7th, 2024

I visited an elderly relative in Stamford today. Yes, it can be tough to witness the people we care about ageing before our very eyes. It’s a natural part of life, but it can still be emotionally challenging to see them go through it.

It’s an opportunity to cherish the moments you have together and to support them through any difficulties they may face. Remember to express your love and appreciation for them regularly and be there for them emotionally and physically as they navigate the changes that come with ageing. It’s also essential to take care of yourself and seek support if you find it difficult to cope with witnessing their ageing process.

Nobody wants to watch what was once a vibrant rose, slowly wilt away.

It was nice to stop off for a drink at the  Haycock Hotel later this evening.

I enjoyed a relaxing evening with a refreshing gin & tonic, whilst having a good chat. It was delightful.

    Cheers to a peaceful moment!

  • “Dirty Dancing”

    Apr 6th, 2024

“Dirty Dancing is a film I have watched many times. The film starred the late PatrickSwayze and Jennifer Grey. I love dancing. If the truth be known, as a young woman, I used to frequent our local nightclub, in my home town, Stamford. The club was called “The Riverside” and friends and I used to love dancing the night away. It was only a small club, situated in a small market town, however, I can remember us all dancing around our handbags. 😁

I miss the old market town as it was. It was a lovely quaint old Market Town, filled with stone buildings. It was very pretty.

Both of my parents were excellent dancers. They both loved to ballroom dance. They were particularly good at dancing the waltz.

I used to take my children to Ballet and Ballroom dancing classes at “Browns” in Peterborough. It was a very nice dance studio.

Dancing can evoke a range of emotions depending on the individual and the context. For many people, dancing can be exhilarating, freeing, and joyful. It often allows them to express themselves creatively, release stress, and connect with others in a unique way.

  • A Massage

    Apr 6th, 2024

Recently I have had a lot of tension and stress-related shoulder aches, therefore I was happy to go for a lovely head-to-toe massage with Dan this morning. I didn’t realise that I was so much in need of a good massage. 🙂

After the massage, I felt deeply relaxed, with tension relieved from my muscles and joints. I felt a calmness and tranquillity, as well as improved flexibility and mobility. There was a temporary euphoric feeling due to the release of endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers. The minute I walked into the room, the soft music and the peaceful ambience at the studio were very welcoming.

I have heard that additionally, a massage can promote better sleep quality and overall well-being, leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.#FingersCrossed

    Thank you Dan.

  • Edinburgh, Scotland

    Apr 4th, 2024

I took a trip to Scotland a couple of years ago and I had a really fun time taking photographs at Edinburgh Castle.

I took this stunning photograph, on the way towards the Castle.  Walking the mile in Scotland can be a delightful experience, especially if you’re referring to Edinburgh’s famous Royal Mile. It’s a historic street connecting Edinburgh Castle with the Palace of Holyroodhouse, lined with shops, cafes, and historic landmarks. It offers a glimpse into Scotland’s rich history and culture as you stroll along its cobblestone streets.

  • My Clematis

    Apr 4th, 2024

I was very pleased with my Clematis. This beautiful clematis always helps to brighten up any garden. Clematis plants come in a variety of colours, shapes, and sizes, with some species producing single flowers and others producing clusters.

They are popular in gardens and landscaping for their versatility and ability to climb trellises, fences, and arbours.

  • Film: “The Passion Of Christ”

    Apr 4th, 2024

I loved the Mel Gibson film #ThePassionOfChrist It is one of the very first films I made my very first review about, on the internet, shortly after going to watch this film.

The film was released in 2004, around about the time I bought my very first computer. Before 2004, I was far too busy bringing up two daughters and I never had any Internet access. The computer was bought, to enable me to study. In between studying, I used to write on a forum, which enabled me to break away from all of the concentration. It was on that forum I started my internet persona #SmileyRose.

Recently we celebrated Easter and “Good Friday.” Do people know the reason why this day is a Bank Holiday? The New Testament says that Good Friday is the day when Jesus Christ was crucified by the Romans. Jewish religious leaders condemned Jesus of blasphemy for claiming to be the Son of God.

They were angered by Jesus’ acts & brought him to the Romans. Pontius Pilate, a Roman leader, who sentenced Jesus to crucifixion.

Christians from around the world use today to remember why they are Christians and to remember how Jesus died.  Good Friday is the day Jesus died.

I do go around preaching about religion, however, I do believe in God.

The feelings of people who believe in God can vary widely depending on their individual beliefs, experiences, and personal circumstances. Some may feel a sense of comfort, purpose, and hope derived from their faith, while others may experience doubt, confusion, or struggle with their beliefs. Ultimately, the emotional experiences of believers are as diverse as the individuals themselves.
