When arriving at the Yaxley shopping centre this evening, I found it engulfed in darkness due to a power cut. The usual hustle and bustle was replaced by an eerie silence. A man was sitting in his car opposite me in the car park. He slowly wound down the car window, to inform me that there had been a power cut, causing all of the shops to close early today. I thanked him for letting me know, however, I was curious to see if there was any sign of life anywhere.

As I stepped into the ghostly arcade, the air grew chilly, and the sounds of fading laughter echoed through the dimly lit space. I walked cautiously, feeling as if unseen eyes were watching my every move. Each step reverberates, sending shivers down my spine, as I explore the haunted remnants of what is usually a vibrant centre.

Searching for another fish and chip shop can be quite an adventure! I was looking to discover a hidden gem that sold delicious fish and chips. It’s like embarking on a tasty treasure hunt! 😃

Going to eat at a friend’s place is like stepping into a cosy haven of warmth and familiarity. The anticipation of good food and great company adds an extra layer of excitement to the experience.

As we both enjoyed our fish and chips, there was yet another power cut, which lasted for a few minutes. The feeling of darkness can be unsettling, like being enveloped in a heavy, suffocating cloak where uncertainty and fear seem to linger. I didn’t like that feeling at all, therefore I was thankful when the lights came back on. 🙂
